Bev

As a child my parents would only allow me to have cats. No matter how much I begged, there was no way I would be getting the puppy I desperately wanted. Having said that, the cats were great and a couple of them didn't even mind getting dressed up and being forced to play house, or school or baby. Even so, the desire for a dog never diminished and after getting married and becoming a homeowner one of the first purchases we made was an adorable black curly cock-a-poo which I named Missy. Missy taught me a lot, especially about responsibility and pretty much everything I didn't know about owning and training a dog. While she was not a sheltie, Missy was the start of my wanting to know more and do more. Once Missy had passed on I purchased another dog but I needed a purebred so I could compete in obedience at CKC dog shows and in July of 1990 I purchased Stryder, my first Sheltie.

Having one terrific sheltie could only be improved upon by having another.  Hence, a few years later, T.C. (Too Cute) from Beaucourt Shelties came along and joined in the obedience and trialing I had really come to enjoy.  We travelled to dog shows and for several years took a good shot at the competitive obedience trials and the three of us went everywhere together.  I was very proud of my dogs and loved spending the time training, traveling, and competing with them.

Unfortunately, our best friends pass through our lives all too quickly.  Stryder went to the Rainbow Bridge in the fall of 2005 and T.C. followed in 2008.

Pictured Below is T.C. a few months before he passed to the bridge.

I really thought that I would not have another dog - especially a puppy that would require so much time and effort so my search - perhaps a half-hearted effort - was focused on a more mature dog who would arrive magically house trained etc. It was not to be. One day in late April of 2008 I received an e-mail from a friend in England who said she had had a couple of litters and one of the male puppies was mine if I wanted him. Something inside me was immediately drawn to this little guy and after discussions with my husband and some serious soul-searching we decided to bring Devon into our home and hearts.

Pictured below is Bev's new sheltie, Devon, from England, as a puppy.
